If excuses were wishes…

So I’ve been rather absent these past several weeks. No excuses, really; just a lot of stuff going on these days, and it’s sapping my creativity. In short, real life is busting in, unwelcome, into my artistic life. And, alas, real life takes precedence. Survival demands it. I’ve barely managed to read any good books, much less write one!

However, I’ve got a nearly-finished project just waiting for the last few scenes, and two completed stories that are just edits – and covers – away from hitting the e-book shelves. So don’t despair! More juicy erotic goodness is in the wings, waiting for the perfect moment to waltz onstage.

In the meantime, don’t just sit around waiting for me! There are plenty of amazing indie erotica authors out there, and you should be reading their work. Here’s a brief list of some of my favorites:

  • Patient Lee  :  author of erotic realism (a.k.a. the REAL good stuff).
  • Pandora Spocks  :  featuring hot, modern BSDM relationships. Yowza!
  • Lilah E. Noir  :  all kinds of hot & sexy tidbits…
  • Ian Saul Whitcomb  :  one of the most creative erotica authors I’ve ever read!
  • Emmanuelle de Maupassant  :  sensual, sophisticated erotica with a historical bent.
  • Sexscribbler  :  amazing talent, with stories offered for free on her blog!
  • MS Tarot  :  always surprising, and a superb storyteller. Plus all the great sexy bits.
  • Siren Allen  :  Scifi erotica, with surprises on every page!

It’s here! The last book in the excellent November Snow series!

Those of you who actually read my blog know I am a HUGE fan of A.M. Manay’s November Snow series. I’ve had the great pleasure to read them all, and the frustration of finishing book two – which ends in a nail-biting cliffhanger, by the way. Now, at last, the long-anticipated third book is here! She Marches Through Fire : November Snow book 3.

I’m not a vampire-romance groupie, and usually books about supernatural creatures… well… bore me. There’s so much magic in the real world I’d prefer to sink my teeth into! Therefore it was my delight and surprise to fall utterly in love with A.M. Manay’s characters and story. Despite all their special powers, the fairies, werewolves, demons, and vampires in this series are never one-dimensional. Their world is our own, with all its challenges and joys, its hope and disillusion. It’s rare when an author can blend to much reality into a fantasy tale, but this is it! And the result is something even more rare: a rich, fast-paced, thrilling series that I could not put down.

Please do yourself a favor and buy all three November Snow books today! I’m serious. They’re THAT good.

An Exciting New Release! (Tumble in the Scottish Highlands, anyone?)

After tumbling across – and subsequently devouring – author Emmanuelle de Maupassant’s ridiculously erotic Victorian novel, Gentlemen’s Club, I’ve been avidly keeping up with her latest work. This lady writes the kind of erotica I love: tense, raw, and full of beautiful language, so you can taste each sentence and feel it resonate in your core. Yes, the writing is that good. Her stories make sex entrancing as well as arousing, transforming the pleasure of reading into the joy of participating.

I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of her latest, Highland Pursuits. Needless to say, I highly suggest you get yourself a copy! Read on for more details. You don’t want to miss this one!

Emmanuelle de Maupassant is thrilled to announce the launch of her saucy 1920s romance romp: ‘Highland Pursuits’.

What readers are saying:

“I can’t tell you how much I love this book. It was a true delight to read. The author has captured 1920s Britain wonderfully, and her detail is exquisite.” – Rachel De Vine

“As a comedy of manners, this is exceptionally well done.” – Fionna Guillaume

“Highland Pursuits is a wry, clever, incredibly sexy romp… a completely engrossing, utterly enjoyable read. I can’t recommend it highly enough…fabulously fun.” – Malin James

“The scene was set beautifully… I felt like I went back in time to high society Scotland.” – Christine of Sweet and Spicy Reads

‘Highland Pursuits’ draws inspiration from a short story of the same title Emmanuelle wrote originally for the charity fundraising anthology Because Beards: all proceeds have been given to the Movember Foundation.

This longer, novella, length offers more scope to explore the wonderful characters’ eye-popping shenanigans. Hamish and Ophelia were in Emmanuelle’s dreams for many weeks, as she wrote this story. high-cover

Tie me up!

Like many modern women, I enjoy a spot of light BSDM. My husband, wonderful as he is, always strives to do his part of the fun — alcohol has been a great help in this, as I’m sure is the case for many other couples! One of the hardest things to do in bed, I’ve found, is talk about what you want. Especially if you want something kinky. Even after years of marriage, and plenty of erotic romps, I get shy when it comes to verbalizing. (Clearly, I should be spanked for this.)

Which is what makes author Pandora Spocks’ “Dream Dominants” series SO MUCH FUN! When I read the first in the series, Luke & Bella, I fell head over heels for sexy, sensitive, Dominant Luke. (Bella, of course, being his sassy, redhead, secret-submissive perfect match!) It’s such a pleasure to read about safe, loving, respectful D/s relationships, especially with all the bad examples out there. (Smut-literary world, you know what I mean!) Plus, I have to say, the sex is damn hot.

lostandbcoverTherefore it’s with great excitement that I announce the cover reveal and pre-order for Ms. Spocks’ next Dream Dominant: Lost & Bound. (Order now; release on January 31st). Friends, this one’s going to be GREAT. Here’s a little sneak peek at one of the steamy scenes:

**

After painting the exteriors of the first two cabins, Blake and Shasta took a break. In the kitchen of the main house, he quickly made turkey sandwiches for their lunch. “How’s that plug feeling, kitten?” he asked as he sat across the table.

“It’s fine. I mean, I can feel it, but it doesn’t hurt.”

His grin was sly. “Does it feel good?”

She shifted uneasily in her chair. “I just know that my pussy is about to go up in flames if it doesn’t get some relief soon.”

Blake laughed. “We’ll see what we can do about that.” Rounding the table, he grasped her arm and led her to the kitchen counter, where he bent her over. A sharp tug dropped her shorts to the floor around her feet. He released his monster erection and impaled her roughly.

“Oh, shit, yes!” she panted.

After three strokes, he pulled out and restored his jeans, returning to the table to finish his lunch.

Shasta, still leaning over the counter, watched him incredulously. “Are you kidding me?!”

Blake smirked confidently and gave her a wink. “I’m telling you, kitten, by tonight you’ll be begging me to fuck your ass.”

Right?! You KNOW you want to read the rest!

Blake Walker is no stranger to tragedy. Immediately following a horrific event years earlier, he was lost for a while until he embraced his Dominant nature and found his true calling. But things change and now he’s back where he started, helping to run his family’s secluded lake lodge.

When pampered Hollywood starlet Shasta Pyke gets into trouble with the law, she’s sent to the wilderness of northern Ontario to cool her heels for a few weeks.  There she meets sexy bush pilot Blake, who is tasked with seeing to her needs as the sole guest at the lodge.

Initially, Blake isn’t impressed with the spoiled actress, but he’s happy that her visit allows for his sister Jackie and her kids to go on a much-needed vacation. Try as he might, he can’t figure out what the hell Shasta Pyke is doing so far out of her element.

Shasta’s attracted to Blake’s obvious good looks, but there’s more to him than that. He sees through her armor to the vulnerable little girl she hides from the world. The Daddy Dominant in him craves to shelter her, to make her his own.

Is there any way Shasta will agree to submit to Blake’s Dominance? (Note from Fionna: I bet there is! And it’s going to be awesome!)

Lost & Bound is Book 2 of Pandora Spocks’ Dream Dominant Collection, a series of stand-alone novels featuring sexy, Dominant men, and the strong, red-haired submissives who find them irresistible. It is a contemporary erotic romance novel with a light BDSM theme, and features a DD/lg relationship, and is intended for mature audiences.

Sexy shower scenes and a giveaway with Siren Allen!

silvercover
Oooh, those dreadlocks… drool…

You all know I love my SciFi romance, right? Ooh, yes, I do enjoy a good Big Bang! (Hehehe… okay, yeah, there’s a reason I’m not a stand-up comedian.) Anyway, I am excited to introduce to you a new author on the hot SciFi/romance scene: Siren Allen. She’s got a sizzling new book coming out, and you need to take a look! The excerpt alone gets me hot. Time to go buy it!

Siren says:  Hi guys. I’m so excited about my new release, Silver, a Sci-Fi romance. Silver is available on Amazon and free with Kindle Unlimited. The two main characters, Malia and Silver, are now my favorite people. Watching them fall in love was fun, sexy and sometimes heartbreaking. I’ve included an excerpt from one of my favorite scenes. It’s a shower scene. Enjoy!

A sexy sneak peek:

He tried to recall the last time he’d bathed.

Silver lathered his chest with an unscented bar of cleanser. He hadn’t bathed once while on Venus. They’d stolen a tank of water from a nearby store and had used that to wash their face, hands, and other junk that got sweaty.

But a full shower. He hadn’t one of those in a long time. It felt nice. And with Malia only a few clicks away from him, it felt naughty, especially since he was showering in the dark. In a rush to get back to her, he bypassed the light switch and headed straight for the stall. His mate was awaiting him in bed. His heart leapt at that thought and so did other things.

With hot water falling over his frame, Silver slid one hand down to his cock and gripped it tightly. Stars, he was rock hard, his body yearning for his mate. Silver stroked himself. Closing his eyes, he let his head fall forward as images of his mate masturbating while dreaming filled his mind.

Sex with her would be spectacular. He knew it would. He wasn’t an untried male. He’d been with plenty of females. None had ever stoked his desire the way his mate was doing. And it wasn’t just the mating pull forcing him to feel things for her. It was her, the little things she did. The way she smiled, they sound of her laughter, the way she cocked her head to the side when she was thinking about something he’d said. She was perfection.

He couldn’t wait to rub his hands over her flesh and feel her shiver underneath his touch. He was going to take great pleasure in making her moan all night long as he kissed and licked every inch of her. Silver thrust forward, pushing into his palm, wishing it was her heat he was sliding into. She would be wet. Oh so wet. He groaned as he thought of her wetness sliding over his cock. His dick jerked. He stroked faster, pumping his length.

He was going to come. That was probably for the best, to take the edge off before he climbed in bed behind his mate. Behind his mate. That thought caused images of him taking her from behind to form in his head.

The doorknob to the bathroom turned. His head jerked in its direction. Had he locked the door? Nope. In stepped Malia.

“Silver, are you okay? I heard noises.” She flipped the light switch on and her mouth fell open in shock.

He wanted to stop. He really did. He couldn’t. His orgasm was too close and the sight of her sent him over the edge. Silver came hard, groaning as his hips jerked until every last drop was ripped from him. Shit. She was still standing there.

Silver stared down at the shower floor watching water and his semen wash down the drain. This was the ultimate embarrassment. He heard her clear her throat. He didn’t look in her direction.

“Uh, okay,” she told him from the doorway. “I see that you’re okay. Um, I’m going to let you finish… showering. Take as long as you need.”

Silver nodded and waited on the sound of the door closing before he began cursing. “Shit, fuck, fucking shit.” He banged his head against the wall.

Because Beards keep you warm… in more than one way!

I’m one of those women who happens to love beards. Don’t get me wrong; there are many handsome, smooth-faced men out there, and I appreciate that many cultures do not admire beards (mostly, cultures where most of the men can’t grow one… just sayin’). In my younger years, I was attracted to boyish good looks. You know, charming young men wit lots of hair on their heads and practically none anywhere else. Thinking back on it, I believe that was because they seemed “safer” to me, less virile or masculine, more familiar to my girlish eyes. Now that I’m older, wiser, and far sexier, however, I have decided that the woman in me is most aroused by a mature man. By which I mean the kind that grows hair. Everywhere.

Yes, hairy chests are my thing, and hairy faces too. Alas, my husband will never have a Viking’s capillary talents, but I do enjoy his scruffy beard after a week or two. (And the fun part is, when he shaves it off I get to enjoy all the stages of its regrowth… almost as much fun as having an affair with a clean-shaven guy, and not nearly as much trouble!)

For all you ladies (and gents) who, like me, love a man with a beard, I am delighted to announce the upcoming release of a beard-themed erotica anthology: Because Beards. What’s even better than that? Why, all profits go to charity! So now you can actually feel good during your feel-good sexy times.

Lose yourself in this tantalizing collection of original short stories by your favorite romance authors in support of a great cause. Hipster CEO, bartender, best friend, baseball player—just to name a few—these men all have one thing in common: they’re bearded for your pleasure and deliver one hell of a happy ever after.

All proceeds from this anthology will be donated to The Movember Foundation, an organization that supports charities in the research and treatment of prostate and testicular cancer as well as other men’s health initiatives.

beards1Sexy Excerpt: The Beard Made Me Do It by Scott Hildreth

I grabbed my purse, turned toward the bathroom, and began to walk away. Carefully placing each foot in front of the other, and at least attempting to look sophisticated, I intentionally walked past the bearded wonder positioned between me and the restroom.

As I walked by, I glanced over my shoulder.

I would have sworn our eyes met.

Maybe it was because I wanted them to.

Either way, he was the most handsome man I had ever seen.

His beard?

Perfection defined.

After relieving myself of the afternoon’s alcohol, I stood at the sink and stared blankly into the mirror. Mentally preparing to talk to the magnificent stranger, I was convinced I had what it took – short of a little courage – to impress him.

I turned toward the door, inhaled a breath of bravery, and pulled it open.

Oh shit!

Standing on the other side of the door stood the bearded wonder. Wearing a shitty little smirk, it appeared he knew I was coming. Although I had many things planned to say, and many more I wanted to say, I executed none of my plans.

Instead, I stepped to the side, gazed at him with wide eyes, and muttered a half-hearted apology as I passed. “Sorry,” I squeaked.

His hand gripped my shoulder lightly. “Wait.”

Oh God.

My legs began to shake. I turned around.

“Yeah?”

“You’re single, adventurous, and have no problem keeping a secret,” he said flatly. I couldn’t help but notice that his teeth seemed as white as the winter snow, but it was his beard that commanded my attention.

I stared back at it – and him – in disbelief.

His eyes narrowed slightly. “Am I right?”

My eyes were still fixed on his beard. I nodded. “Uh huh.”

He reached for my hand, turned toward the back door, and paused. “You’re going to come with me.”beards2

Jazz Baby – a guest post from RRBC author Beem Weeks!

As most of you know, I am an avid lover of history. What fascinates me most is how human nature has stayed the same, in all its glory and ugliness, throughout the ages. That’s why I can write (what I hope is) convincing stories set in the far ancient world, where people live in times and cultures so different from my own. Because at the root of it we all want the same things our ancestors did. The beauty of historical fiction is its ability to transport you into another time, another person’s shoes. That is what author Beem Weeks is trying to do with his latest book, Jazz Baby.

*

Why Did I Write Jazz Baby?

jazz baby

Jazz Baby began life as a series of recollections. As a child and young adult, I grew up hearing the stories of my grandparents’ era. They came of age in the 1920s and 1930s. My grandfather ran bootleg whiskey and mixed with dangerous sorts of men—and women. While Jazz Baby doesn’t deal with any specific details from my grandparents’ lives, the spirit of their era is what comes through on those pages.

What Jazz Baby is meant to be is a trip into the year 1925; a shared summer with one young girl trying to find her way in life, in the world of her day. I spent untold hours in researching the era and that region of the country, and human behavior in general. The thing about human behavior is it doesn’t change, no matter the era in which we live. Stories from that era, many told to me by my grandfather, seem to suggest that the young people from the 1920s sought out the same things young people from the 2010s search after.

These weren’t asexual, sober, boring people back then. Not even close. The stories I heard, either directly or through eavesdropping, told tales of young and vibrant lives, of men and women on the prowl for good times, cheap booze, and dirty sex—not at all different from today. The thing is, today we see our grandparents (mine are long dead) as old people who spend a lot of time in church, doing good and Godly things. But they were young once. Young, and quite different from what they are today. As humans grow older, we mature and change. It’s part of the life experience. Regrets are born in old age, never in youth.

I found it interesting that opium was a popular recreational drug in use during that era. Marijuana grew wild in parts of the country, going unmolested by the local authorities, many of whom would consider it silly to dedicate time, money, and effort in trying to eradicate a weed. The young people of the 1920s, the partiers, were the very ones partaking of these forbidden fruits.

The thing is, I could have set Jazz Baby in any era and achieved similar results. But writing about a time and place I’ve never known became a challenge I was eager to tackle. And while it took me the better part of eight years from outlining to publication, this is the one story that made me a better writer, and more importantly, a better storyteller.

You can purchase Jazz Baby on Amazon or Barnes & Noble

Weird writing habits

by Lizzie Chantree

I sometimes wonder if other authors have weird writing habits. Do you? I know I do! I love to write on A4, green, lined exercise books, with a beautiful pen my husband gave to me for my birthday. It has my name inscribed on it and is so comfortable to write with. I also have a small cabinet next to my desk in my studio, which is where I keep my bubblegum drawer, (don’t tell my children!) I love bubblegum.

Some authors, like Mark Twain , George Orwell and Marcel Proust, have been know to lie down to find writing inspiration. Others set word count targets, write on index cards, use a certain colour of ink like Lewis Carroll, walk around, colour code notes, or compose poetry in their head whilst on horseback, like Sir Walter Scott. This does make my bubblegum drawer seem rather tame, but as I’m a tad clumsy, it probably best I keep both feet on the ground!

With my most recent novel, Finding Gina, I hand wrote the original manuscript in A4 books and now it has been published, I can’t wait to unwrap a new exercise book and begin the whole process over again.

Excerpt from Finding Gina:

‘Sorry!’ apologised the woman, eyeing the handsome man on her doorstep. ‘We had the music on and didn’t realise you were here. This little munchkin heard the door and got to it before I could stop her. So much for all of the stranger danger talks I have given her.’ She raised her eyes to heaven in exasperation and sat the wriggling child on her hip with a stern look, which made the sides of the girl’s mouth wobble in uncertainty and her eyes become wary, when she realised she had done something wrong. Her mother gave her a swift kiss on the top of her curly head and lowered her to the ground in the hallway. ‘I’m hoping you are Lewis?’ she said jovially, beckoning him to follow her into the open plan lounge and kitchen at the back of the house. ‘I’m Hannah.’

‘I am,’ smiled Lewis, winking at the child as she tried to hide behind her mother’s legs, before darting off into the garden with the biggest dog Lewis had ever seen. ‘I really appreciate you taking the time to see me.’

‘I was curious to see if you could find her,’ she said simply, casting a glance at her child who was trying to dress the poor dog up as Cinderella.
